Coriolis force, is a description of the deflection of the linear motion of a particle in a rotating system due to inertia relative to the linear motion of the rotating system.
In a rotating system, a particle that moves in a straight line has a tendency to continue moving along the original direction of motion due to inertia. However, since the system itself rotates, after a period of movement, the position of the particle in the system will change. Changes, and its original movement direction and position will change. The force that causes the change in its movement direction is the Coriolis force.
Coriolis mass flow meter is a direct mass flow meter that uses the principle of Coriolis force that is proportional to the mass flow rate of the fluid when the fluid is in another rotating system while moving linearly. This Coriolis force will cause the vibrating measuring tube to twist, as shown below:
The Coriolis mass flowmeter has a signal detector at the inlet and outlet ends of the measuring tube.
